Title 1

What is Title 1?

Title one is the largest federally assisted program for our nation's schools. The program provides extra help to students who need it most. Title one serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year. The program is available in most districts, and many charter schools, parochial, and private schools.

Why should I know about Title 1?

  • · When children do better in school, they feel better about themselves.
  • · It helps parents understand their children better.
  • · It helps parents to be more involved in their child's education.
  • · Teachers benefit from the support the parents and program offers.
  • · Teachers and parents both feel the satisfaction of seeing the child succeed.

Parents, teachers' administrators and other school staff work to:

  • · Identify students most in need of educational help.
  • · Set goals for improvement.
  • · Measure student progress using standards set forth in the states Title 1 plan.
  • · Develop programs that add to regular classroom instruction.
  • · Involve parents in all aspects of the program.

Parents are part of the team! Parents' need to:

  • · Share information about your child's interests and goals.
  • · Help determine program goals.
  • · Plan and carry out programs.
  • · Work with your child at home.
  • · Offer to work in your child's classroom as a volunteer.
  • · Evaluate programs success and meeting the child's needs.

Apple Blossom is proud to offer Title 1 as one of our outstanding programs.
